PTSD & trauma

I am a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional and received additional training in EMDR.

Both EMDR (eye movement desensitization and reprocessing) and Art Therapy are ways of processing traumatic events without having to be retraumatized by talking about the events, though talking about them is welcome as well. You do not need any artistic skill to do art therapy. It can be another way to explore and heal from trauma, however.

EMDR (Eye Movement desensitization & Reprocessing) is extremely affective for healing from trauma and is just as affective through telehealth as in person. It is a type of therapy that does not require that you share details of trauma. Eye movements are not the only way to create the bilateral movement needed, while there are many options, I find tapping to be the best option when eye movements are not comfortable for someone.

Art therapy is another wonderful therapy for trauma and like EMDR, does not require verbalization of your trauma. It can offer containment, safe connection to the body, and externalization of painful memories and emotions.
