Working with me
Shay (Sarah) Meyer, LMFT, ATR-P
I am a Child (mostly 13+), Couple & Family Therapist and Art Therapist with a degree from Antioch University. I am also EMDR trained. And I am licensed in WA and NH.
I would be honored to support you through any of life’s challenges you are facing on your life’s journey. No matter your struggle, there is nothing wrong with you. There is also nothing wrong with seeking support. Humans are hard wired for connection and support. Thank you for considering me to be one of those connections and support.
I am socially justice oriented which means I am continuously doing the work to be anti-racist and understanding my privileges, I believe therapy is political because and I want to be part of decolonizing therapy because the mental health field has a history of pathologizing normal responses to trauma, racism, homophobia, etc. I believe that all bodies are good bodies (anti fat bias, anti ableism) and all brains are amazing (neurodiversity affirming). I believe you will know more about you than I ever will and I trust your knowing.
My style is warm, engaging, collaborative and a bit quirky. I have been told that I have no poker face- and I am glad as I don’t believe a therapist should lack the humanity of emotions. I will not just tell you what you want to hear and may also tell you what you may need to hear. And with the hard parts of therapy, I also know that laughter is healing and belongs in the process as well.
My rate is $155 per 50 minutes for individuals and $165 per 50 minutes for couples and families.
I am out of network with insurances.
About me
I grew on the land of the land of the Pawtucket people near what we now call Boston, but I don't have the accent. My undergraduate degree is in art but could never figure what to do with that until I discovered art therapy. I now live on the land of the Salish people in what we now call Seattle, which has been my home for over a decade and I am still in awe of the scenery. I love anything that gets me in nature. I have a dog named Cocoa, who is hysterical and keeps me on my toes. I am queer, trans/ non-binary, a survivor, an introvert, and on rare occasion, I snort when I laugh.
